The first book I created was a Flower logo the reason I created flower logos was because I began to create illustrations which had different themes, after the outcome of the illustrations was unsuccessful I decided to create logos.
The second book I created was a book of illustrations the reason I chose to create this work was because it used dynamic black and white illustrations which then introduced colour overlays.
Main Inspiration that inspired my logo book was logos which use black and white repeated, decorative and negative space elements such as Face logo by Tomato Design, logo designs by Noma Bar and the Standard 8 logo by Jonathan Ellery.
Main Inspiration that inspired my illustrations book was black and white outlines then includes colour overlays such as work by Natsko Seki.
Skills I have learnt throughout the project are that you don’t need to use materials you first think of to create art work, also the best ideas are spontaneous; thinking outside the box can bring more interesting ideas.
The workshops developed my work by allowing me to think of methods to experiment with. Through variety of subjects it has encouraged me to incorporate multiple design elements into my work.
I believe my two books met the brief well and contained all elements the brief required. The flower logo book was the best executed and most professional I also think the creation was more in-depth for this book.
I think the second book I have produced needed more time and practiced execution, as well as a more creative book could have been created.
The logo book could be improved by creating more artwork which when complete the best artwork could be selected for the final book. The illustration book could be improved by creating more artwork which built more content plus more practiced execution and mock ups being created.
Next time I would research different books earlier in the project so to have more time to practice executing the book before including the artwork, also have two themes that run throughout so all work can be linked to the final books.
Critiques throughout the project have been successful through different improvements being suggested.
I could get more from critiques by ensuring all people give feedback on work so I can make improvements.
I don’t think I have managed my time wisely, through workshops I spent half my time researching inspiration and the remainder executing designs, also the weeks after workshops I executed artwork which was suggested not strong enough therefore the final outcomes were rushed.
Strengths of my final presentation were I explained the modules well and spoke largely about the final products. Weaknesses I found with my final presentation were I had not prepared content meaning I had to use visuals to explain the project.
Improvements I would make in future are to prepare the content include key words within the presentation.
